KOLKATA, INDIA: Mohun Bagan Super Giant, who have won the Indian Super League (ISL) twice, are yet to play their first home game of the 2026-27 season, and this has confounded their die-hard supporters. The Mariners, considered to be the ‘national club of India’ owing to their stature, size and prestige, were scheduled to play two consecutive away games at the start of the season.

Mohun Bagan opened their campaign against NorthEast United FC in Guwahati on Monday, October 12, and were beaten by a narrow 0-1 scoreline. The Kolkata giants appeared to be in control for large parts of the fixture, but conceded a goal in the dying stages of the game to the home team’s Jithin MS, and had to return home empty-handed, with no points in their kitty.

Bagan’s next fixture, too, is away from home. They have been asked to travel to the country’s capital to take on Sporting Club Delhi at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Friday, October 16. Thus, the Mariners will not get to play at home in the opening two gameweeks of this season’s ISL. However, their supporters need not worry, because their fortunes are expected to improve soon.

Mohun Bagan Super Giant will play three consecutive home matches in ISL 2026-27

After returning from Delhi, Mohun Bagan are slated to play three consecutive home matches at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan (Salt Lake Stadium) in Kolkata: Chennaiyin FC (26 October), Punjab FC (31 October) and Odisha FC (5 November). This period will give Panagiotis Dilmperis’ men an opportunity to build momentum and extend their grip on the ISL table.

In total, Mohun Bagan are scheduled to play five home matches in the first phase of the 2026-27 ISL, with games against Bengaluru FC (9 December) and Kerala Blasters (10 January 2027) following. The Mariners have been given seven away and five home matches in this phase. The positive is that their fans will get to see them play in Kolkata on seven occasions in the second phase next year.
