HYDERABAD, INDIA: England pacer Brydon Carse, who was a part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the ongoing Indian Premier League season, has been ruled out with an injury. The franchise has, in turn, named Sri Lankan seamer Dilshan Madushanka as his replacement. Madushanka has earlier played for the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL.

Carse suffered a hand injury while batting in the nets for SRH ahead of their season opener against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and did not sufficiently recover to play further in this tournament. Madushanka, meanwhile, will join the Hyderabad-based franchise for INR 75 lakh.

Madushanka has yet to make his IPL debut despite being with MI in the past. The left-arm seamer has represented Sri Lanka in 1 Test, 28 ODIs, and 19 T20Is so far. He will add an element of overseas experience in SRH’s bowling department since they are still without their captain, Pat Cummins, who is also recovering from an injury.

SRH have won two games so far in IPL 2026

SRH have won two games out of the five they have played so far in IPL 2026. Their most recent victory came over the table-toppers Rajasthan Royals (RR), who were hitherto unbeaten, on Monday, April 13. Batting first in Hyderabad, SRH put up a massive total of 216-6 on the board, thanks to captain Ishan Kishan’s 44-ball 91.

Alongside Heinrich Klaasen’s 26-ball 40, SRH were also helped by cameos from Nitish Kumar Reddy (28) and wicketkeeper-batter Salil Arora (24*), which allowed them to canter towards the gargantuan total. In response, RR were skittled out for a mere 156 runs on the board in 19 overs.

Debutant seamers Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain starred with the ball for SRH, picking up four wickets apiece. With this victory, SRH crept up to the fourth spot in the IPL 2026 table with four points in their kitty. RR are still on top of the standings with eight points, while Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are last with one.
