LONDON, ENGLAND: Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres is closing in on breaking the club record for most goals scored in one’s maiden season. The Swede, who was signed from Sporting CP in the 2025 summer transfer window, has already scored 15 goals across all competitions this season.

Alexandre Lacazette leads the charts for the Gunners with the most goals scored in a debut season – 17 in 2017-18. The Frenchman is widely remembered for the impact he brought at the top of the tree, and he ended his tenure at the Emirates with 71 goals from 206 appearances, before moving back to Lyon, where he scored 72 goals in 116 appearances.

Viktor Gyokeres, at 15, has plenty of time to overtake Lacazette and establish himself as a favourite amongst the club’s loyal fans. The Gunners, who are the leaders of the Premier League, still have 10 more fixtures in it before establishing their supremacy and winning their first title since 2003-04. They are also alive in the UEFA Champions League, EFL Cup and FA Cup.

Viktor Gyokeres already has 10 goals for Arsenal in the Premier League

10 of Viktor Gyokeres’ goals for Arsenal have come in the Premier League, with four coming in the continental championship and one in the EFL Cup. He is yet to open his account in the FA Cup (although he has only played 45 minutes in it). The 27-year-old most recently starred for Mikel Arteta’s side with a brace against their north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, in a 4-1 win on Sunday, February 22.

Arsenal’s signing of Gyokeres was criticised by many pundits, but the Sweden international has slowly put to bed all these concerns. He has singlehandedly become one of the most lethal finishers in the Premier League, ranking a joint-sixth in the Golden Boot (top scorer) race. Erling Haaland, of Manchester City, currently leads the list with 22 strikes, followed by Brentford’s Igor Thiago with 17.
