NOTTINGHAM, ENGLAND: Nottingham Forest have appointed Vitor Pereira as their new manager, after sacking Sean Dyche last week. Pereira becomes the fourth manager appointed by Forest this season, after the likes of Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou and Dyche were sacked by their management.
Forest are, incidentally, one of the very few sides in the history of the Premier League to have changed their head coach on four occasions over the course of one season. Dyche was relieved of his duties after his wards failed to make use of a 63% rate of possession and 35 total shots to score even once against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday, ending the game as a goalless draw.
Nottingham Forest had an xG of 2.55 in Sean Dyche’s final game
What intrigued Nottingham Forest’s management was their lack of incision inside the box despite their xG coefficient being an impressive 2.55, a direct result of 10 shots on target and four big chances created. Sean Dyche’s replacement, Pereira, meanwhile, has been given an 18-month deal.
The Portuguese has won back-to-back league titles with Porto FC in the past, and also done the double with Olympiacos in Greece. Pereira has also managed notable clubs such as Fenerbahce in Turkey and Al Ahli in Saudi Arabia. Interestingly, he was the manager of Wolves (to whom Dyche lost his job) earlier this season before being replaced by Rob Edwards.
